One appliance that used to be banned from Missouri landfills, but is legal now are microwave ovens. They were taken off of the banned list in 2002. The Missouri Department of Natural Resources asks that you make every effort to find a different solution to disposing of microwaves, but it's now legal to dump them in a sanitary landfill if you have no other option.
What are the penalties for illegal dumping in Missouri?
The revised statutes in the state of Missouri about illegal dumping are strict. Depending on the seriousness of the violation, it can elevate to a class D or E felony with fines of up to $20,000 and jail time and/or community service.
