To see this fireball, you would have had to be looking at exactly the right place at a very specific time, but fortunately a videographer captured the moment a rare meteor zoomed over Missouri early Monday morning.

Dan Bush who shares great content on his Missouri Skies YouTube channel frequently just shared what he believes may have been a Kappa Cygnid Meteor. It's a lesser-known meteor shower that peaks in August.

This is the meteor at its brightest as captured on the Missouri Skies video.

Something interesting about this meteor shower is Wikipedia says it's absent most years which is why it's quite a treat if that is indeed what Dan got video of. It says "the meteor shower will appear to line up in sky by the constellation Cygnus and the star Kappa Cygni".  This meteor shower seems to be more prevalent every 7 years which would have made this due around 2028, so perhaps this rare shower arrived a bit early?
