I think it's safe to say that everyone who enters a hospital has hopes for healing. The least you would expect would be a sense of safety. For 7 Missouri hospitals, that's problematic as they just received the lowest grades possible for patient safety in the latest surveys.

There are four areas that Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade uses to decide which hospitals earn a passing grade and those that do not and they include errors, injuries, accidents and infections. They also have a rather exhaustive process for allowing hospitals to review the data they collect and to contest it if they believe it's inaccurate. Their results include surveys of 59 hospitals in Missouri. Out of those 59, there are 7 Missouri hospitals that received the lowest grade of D.

Why I won't list the Missouri hospitals that just received that alarming grade of D

When I've shared the results of these hospital ratings in the past, it seems to me that too many are using that result without doing their own research. The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade information is meant to be a starting point for your own health care research. The other reason is that Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade now licenses their information only for personal use and not for research or commercial use like content like mine is intended for. That being said, you can go see their grades for Missouri hospitals for yourself. You deserve to know how hospitals you trust your care to are doing when it comes to errors, infections and injuries to patients.
