
Missouri Hikers Face 11 New Trail Warnings
Of all the activities that Missouri offers a multitude of, hiking has to be near the top of the list. If that's something you plan to do in the near future, you need to know that there are now 11 active advisories for anyone heading into the backcountry to experience the backcountry of Missouri.
It's common knowledge among hikers that you want to make sure you're prepared for every possible scenario especially if you're planning a long and/or overnight hike and camping trip. But, there are specific warnings that the state of Missouri provides that every hiker should also check on before heading out. Here are the 11 active advisories from Missouri State Parks.
- Restrooms and water unavailable at many trailheads along the Katy Trail
- Thousand Hills State Park beach closed for the 2025 season
- Locust Creek Covered Bridge closed until further notice in Locust Creek Covered Bridge State Park
- Long Branch State Park campground closed through the 2026 season for construction
- Missouri State Parks has issued a tick warning
- The Union Hotel, including the Elizabeth Rozier Gallery, is temporarily closed due to construction until further notice
- Lodge tours temporarily unavailable at Bothwell Lodge State Historic Site
- Swimming and wading prohibited along the Meramec River in Castlewood State Park
- Washington State Park swimming pool and concession stand closed until further notice
- Roaring River State Park using loud noises between 8am and 10am to deter the black vulture population
- Lewis and Clark State Park water activities not available until further notice
