From the start, I have to say that I think that saying Missouri has two of America's top cities for recreation is awesome, but frankly I feel like they missed a bunch of places. Let's begin with the good news and I'll follow with questions later.

This is a new ranking from Wallet Hub which names the best and worst cities for recreation in America. According to the methodology they shared, they "compared the 100 largest U.S. cities across 47 key metrics that speak to the benefits of recreational activities". This map shows the result. Notice 2 tiny dots in Missouri and that's a good thing.

St. Louis ranked as the 8th best city in America for recreation while Kansas City also ended up in the top 30. Well done.

So what's the problem? It's not really a problem because I realized they limited this to the top 100 largest cities, but how did the Lake of the Ozarks region and/or the Branson, Missouri area not get a mention? A case could be made that southwestern Missouri has the largest number of potential recreational things to do in America. I realize that I'm a homer and partial to Missouri things, but there are seriously a wide variety of outdoor things to do in that part of the state.

Still, it's awesome that Missouri metro areas get a couple of nice national shout outs. For once, it's about something good and not crime.
