Everything is fine. I want to make that point first, because my next statement infers that everything is not fine. A secret military nuke sniffer plane was spotted over Kansas City, Missouri Friday, but everything really is OK I think.

I don't tend to troll the United States Air Force in case they happen to be reading this, but was made aware of some potentially unusual plane activity over Kansas City Friday afternoon by NY Prepper. With a YouTube channel name like that, you can guess his world view is a bit alarming. He noticed that a plane codenamed COBRA36 was making an unusual flight pattern directly over Kansas City and he was not wrong. Here's the flight path on Flight Aware. This is what the Air Force refers to as a "nuke sniffer" although the exact model is WC-135R Constant Phoenix.

The United States Air Force defines what this plane's purpose is saying "the Constant Phoenix's modifications are primarily related to its on-board atmospheric collection suite, which allows the mission crew to detect radioactive "clouds" in real time." Nothing to worry about, right Kansas City?

It really is nothing to worry about as this plane often flies out of Offutt Air Force Base in southeastern Nebraska. While it seemed to make a very conscious effort to fly directly over the Kansas City metro Friday, that's probably just coincidence and not a potential problem, right?
