Mystery $50K Winner Bought Ticket at Missouri Gas Station
I have nothing against the big cities in Missouri, but I'll admit I tend to cheer a little louder when there's a win in some of the state's smaller places and this is an example of that. There has been a mystery winner with a ticket now worth $50K that was picked up just yesterday at a tiny mid-Missouri gas station.
This is the Concordia Eagle Stop, 201 N. Main St., Concordia, Missouri

According to the Missouri Lottery, someone stopped at this tiny gas station/convenience store which is located between Columbia and Kansas City, Missouri on Monday, August 3 and picked up a Powerball ticket. The numbers on that ticket were 8-30-41-48-54 with a Powerball number of 4. We don't know who the winner is because it's just been dropped on the Missouri Lottery Unclaimed Prizes site.
How much would a $50,000 Missouri Lottery ticket be worth after taxes?
Keep in mind that I am not an accountant and probably got a C in math glass back in the day, but online lottery calculators estimate there would be approximately (key word) $36,000 left after state and federal taxes were taken out. That's still a hefty surprise payday for someone who just stopped for gas and maybe refreshments on Monday in the middle of Missouri. If it's you, remember us little people as you enjoy your newfound mini-fortune.
