March Could Go Out Like a Lion with Thunderstorms in Missouri
The old saying March comes in like a lamb and goes out like a lion (or the reverse) looks like it could be true in Missouri as we head towards the end of the month with possible strong thunderstorms on the horizon.
I can say this until I'm blue in the face, but this is NOT a forecast. This is a look at what computer models are showing is possible and we're still many days away from the end of March. All that being said, you need to know that Missouri looks like it could once again be in the path of severe storms.
First, the very near future. Meteorologist Travis Roberts said that Missouri has at least a small chance of seeing thunderstorms on Saturday, March 22, 2025.
Frankly, this is not the day to be concerned about. It's the end of March that looks like it could see another big low pressure area settle over Missouri which could be the trigger for more severe thunderstorms. This is what Saturday, March 29 looks like in the early morning hours.
This is later that same day in the afternoon.
I would highly recommend that you listen to the explanation that Travis gives about why we don't count on computer models this far ahead of time. He's not the only one watching for possible severe storm development towards the end of March though. It's not nearly the level of concern that we had for Friday, March 14 which turned out to be tragic for Missouri, but it should be at the back of your mind that the last weekend in March could be stormy in Missouri - like a lion.
