Look Inside A 1912 Illinois Mansion So Big It Has An Elevator

I like to torture myself and look at million-dollar houses (mansions) that I will never be able to afford. This one located in Winnetka, Illinois is one of the grandest homes I've ever viewed.

This house sits right on the lake and looks more like a resort than a home. It's listed for $15,850,000 and has five bedrooms and five bathrooms, but it's not the rooms that make this house grand it's the ballroom, bar, pool house, and not one but two elevators in the home.

It was built in 1912 and I can only imagine what that ballroom looked like back then with all the dances that took place. Through the years the home has been through some upgrades, but with four levels of the home, I am sure that's a lot of stairs to climb so an elevator was put in. The poolhouse comes with its own kitchen and entertainment space and also has a small elevator in it.

Described as a Spanish-influenced Villa with 5 chandeliers, 10-foot ceilings (plenty of room for tall Christmas trees), and a Primary Suite with a spa and 180-degree views this is a massive and gorgeous home. Now, as I said, there is no way I would be able to afford anything like this in my life, but it's always nice to window shop and image what it would be like to live in a beautiful home like this.
