The roller coaster otherwise known as the weather in northeast Missouri and western Illinois continues this week.

After the storms disrupted high school football Friday night, the weekend turned out to be beautiful in the region.

This week begins with sunny skies and a high of 80. The chance of showers and thunderstorms moves into the area overnight Monday into Tuesday.

The National Weather Service says the best chance of severe weather is Tuesday night and Wednesday, with damaging winds and large hail a possibility.

A strong cold front is slated to move into the area Thursday, with highs in the 60s and lows forecast to fall to 50 Thursday night, 43 Friday night and 47 Saturday night.
