I'm going to state a fact that will not sound like a fact even though data proves it is. Kansas City, Missouri is one of the safest places for crime, but there's a catch that includes one key word I left out.

I was alerted to some interesting data just dropped by the website All About Cookies (sadly, not the kind of cookies we can all eat). It is a rundown of the cities in America where scams are most prevalent. That also included what they found were the safest cities in America among the 75 largest which are the safest from scams. Look who landed in the top 5. Look at you, Kansas City, Missouri.

If only the more conventional non-digital crime numbers in Kansas City were this positive, right? Still, it's a positive thing for the largest metro area in Missouri to be relatively low on the scam meter.

What's also interesting is their look at identity theft shows 3 hot spots just to the northwest of Kansas City in Lincoln and Omaha, Nebraska and Des Moines, Iowa being among the most dangerous for that activity.

Why is Kansas City, Missouri seeing less scams?

Hard to know for sure, but I could theorize that residents of Kansas City are more tech savvy and more aware of online scam techniques or maybe we just got lucky? Either way, it's a victory for crime numbers in the big city and we'll take it.
