Hidden in Woods: Missouri’s Last Standing Pizza Hut Classic
If you have dreams that involve large plastic red glasses, you'll understand the nostalgia of this. There is one lone classic style Pizza Hut in Missouri and it's practically hidden in the woods.
If you're looking for a true retro-style Pizza Hut, you only have one option in Missouri
There is a site called the Retrologist on SubStack that keeps track of where the remaining Pizza Hut Classic restaurants are and the last one still standing in Missouri is located here:
Pizza Hut Classic
25562 State Hwy 39
Shell Knob, MO
Shell Knob is located in the heavily-forested part of southern Missouri in the Ozarks near Table Rock Lake and you'll miss this old-style Pizza Hut if you blink after you cross the bridge it's near. But, if you locate it, you'll see the Pizza Hut light fixtures like the chain was famous for having in the 1980's.
The tables and even table cloths remind me of the old Pizza Hut my family used to visit in Missouri when I was a kid way back in the 1970's.
A recent visitor on YouTube even shared video of the huge plastic red glass they were served their drink in. Can someone find a time machine so we can travel back to when all of these restaurants looked like this?
If you get misty-eyed remembering pizza places that used to have this vibe, you can follow the map to the last one that exists in Missouri.
