So here it is, the final day of 2017. It seems like yesterday we were all worried about Y2K happening when the year 2000 rolled around. Oh the computers of the world were going to all malfunction that year and the world was going to come to an end.  It didn’t happen. I wonder what people were worried about when 1900 rolled around? “Would horses stop running?” Were  people worried that the world would end then too?

Well, here we are staring 2017 in the face.  There’s no talk of the world ending although there is plenty to worry about. 2017 or MMXVII, in Roman numeral form, is the 17th year of the 3rd millennium, the 17th year of the 21st century, and the 8th year of the 2010’s decade.

The 71st United Nations General Assembly declared 2017 as the International Year of Sustainable Tourism for Development.  This resolution is designed to encourage the fostering of better understanding of peoples everywhere.

Lets hope 2017 is a great year for everyone.  We could all use one. Here's to 2017!
