It Appears Meth is Not Going Away in Quincy
Working at a media outlet makes me privy to some information including the Quincy Police Department’s daily "News Media Log". It lists all the arrests made the previous day as well as the criminal damage reports within the last 24 hours in the City of Quincy.
There are some days where that report’s content is quite glaring. Just when I began to think that maybe the drug problem in Quincy might not be a bad as I have been thinking, comes the report from September 13, 2017. I won’t use any names, but I will run down the list of reasons for arrests made on that date. Here we go.
Shoplifting
Failure to Appear and contempt
Speeding
Possession of Cannabis
Possession of Methamphetamine
Homeless unlawful Possession of Methamphetamine & Possession of Stolen Firearm
Unlawful possession of Methamphetamine
Homeless & Possession of Methamphetamine
Homeless & Possession of Methamphetamine
Unlawful Possession of Methamphetamine
Unlawful Possession of Methamphetamine and bringing contraband into a penal institution & possessing contraband in a penal institution
Now this is just one day in Quincy, Illinois. Imagine this times 365 days? Hardly a day goes by without seeing a face of some person in the Herald Whig who has been arrested for possessing, using, transporting or selling drugs in this area. Just when I began to think it might not be as bad as I thought, I read this list. God help us all if we don’t get a handle on this soon.
