The weather is frightful this Halloween.  You can skip going door-to-door in the rain, sleet, and slush and instead bring the kids inside for candy and Halloween fun in Hannibal.

On Thursday, October 31, the Hannibal Police Department will host its 39th Annual Children's Halloween Party. The party started out as an outreach of the DARE (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) program and has grown to accommodate as many as 800 kids.  With ugly weather in the forecast, the HPD is gearing up for what could be a record-breaking party this year.

The HPD spends an entire week getting the Admiral Coontz Recreation Center ready for the party.  It features games, candy, prizes, refreshments, a haunted tent, and a costume contest.

The Halloween party runs from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Halloween.  It's a free event thanks to local donations.
