VIDEO: Missouri Water Tower Demolition Goes Terribly Wrong
If you don't think demolition is hard, you should see this. It's a video that shows a Missouri water tower demolition that just went terribly wrong.
This was quite a moment that was captured by KSHB 41 in Kansas City as they had cameras rolling as an old water tower was set to be demolished in old Independence, Missouri. The plan was for the water tower to be taken down and fall to the left. Instead, it went to the right and nearly clobbered homes along this street landing just feet from a front porch.
Some of the comments on the YouTube share have been classic. Here are some favorites:
- therealpatriarchy - 'I know a guy'
- FishKepr - “Item that old is going to bend and creak and turn.” I can relate to that."
- Mfam16 - "Just barely missed that truck with all the propane tanks in it"
- groverfan1389 - "Hey Beavis, let's take down this old water tower. Huh-huh."
We can all laugh about this because no one was hurt and no one's home was destroyed when the tower fell in the wrong direction. It's amazing how many commenters online suddenly become demolition experts when something like this goes wrong. Was this the result of selecting the low bidder for a demolition? Perhaps, but I'd hate to have to figure out the physics of bringing a rusty old tower like this down safely.
