A very windy day in Missouri nearly turned tragic as a truck driver from Illinois was injured after his semi was blown over onto the passenger side Friday.

According to the official accident report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, a 32-year-old man from Elmhurst, Illinois was southbound on Highway W near Kingsville, Missouri at 1:08pm Friday afternoon when a sudden gust of wind caused his semi-tractor trailer to overturn. This is the area where the accident happened.

The accident report says that the truck overturned onto the passenger side of the truck. The driver whose name has not been released by the Missouri State Highway Patrol was transported to the Western Missouri Medical Center with moderate injuries. Fortunately, the trooper who responded to the crash says he was wearing his seat belt at the time of the accident.

No other vehicles appear to have been involved in the accident. The Missouri State Highway Patrol may release more information after their investigation is complete. As it stands, it's a sad incident caused by excessive wind speeds that occurred all around Missouri Friday ahead of the expected incoming weekend storms.
