There are more than a million Samsung ovens that are very popular in Illinois that are now under an urgent product recall due to a fire hazard according to a new safety bulletin.

I don't normally make much noise about product recalls since they happen all the time, but this one is so common in Illinois especially that I felt it was worth passing along. The United States Consumer Product Safety Commission just shared an urgent alert regarding Samsung slide-in electric ovens. The recall is so vast it affects 1,120,905 ovens that were widely available and sold in Illinois in Best Buy, Costco, Home Depot, Lowes and other stores and certainly thousands are in Illinois homes right now.

What's the problem with these Samsung ovens? The USPSC says "Front-mounted knobs on the ranges can be activated by accidental contact by humans or pets, posing a fire hazard."
