Man Reports Strange Green Orb Over Illinois Countryside

Gazing over the land in southwestern Illinois can be a peaceful thing when you're far enough away from city lights that it's just you and the night sky. That experience took a different turn a couple weeks ago as a man in that part of the state reported seeing a strange-moving green orb.

This very rural part of Illinois was the site of a recent sky encounter with something unusual that was submitted to the National UFO Reporting Center site. It says that a man near Prairie du Rocher, Illinois saw something odd the night of February 26, 2026. His eyewitness testimony was this:

"Country Sighting - green sphere/orb followed a slow zig zag course. Outside admiring night sky out in the country when an green sphere/orb appeared and it was not on a straight path. Path almost followed a slow zig zag course."

There is a possible explanation, but not a definitive one. His report says he was looking to the northeast which would be toward Scott Air Force Base in Illinois and not far from the airport in St. Louis, too. If there are aircraft in that area, it's likely due to one or both of those places. However, there are no conventional craft that look like a green orb or sphere that I'm aware of. By definition, he saw a UFO as there has not been a confirmed conventional explanation yet. Add this to the many other recent strange sky sightings over Illinois.
