IL County Treasurer Spent $100,000 on Star Wars Pajamas, Items
I don't like to be a person to judge, but it's hard not to when you learn that a former Illinois county treasurer has admitted to spending $100,000 on numerous items including Star Wars pajamas. May the force be with him.
Quad City Times reported that Billy E. Harris, 48, of St. Louis confessed to spending more than $100,000 between 2012 and 2018 when he was treasurer for the Perry County Agricultural Society.
The list of items that Billy purchased during those years was very...eclectic. Here are some of the items in no particular order although one of the most unique purchase decisions is in bold:
- Beard Lube
- Darth Vader and Yoda pet tags
- Men's Star Wars sleeping pants
Someone was very busy on Amazon it appears although Walmart has those Star Wars pants on sale (with the top, too!) right now.
The listing includes a curious benefit to owning these Star Wars PJ's:
This Star Wars Mens PJ set will be a great addition to your family sleep pictures! This set features super soft polyester and a cozy fit ! Great for sleep and lounging!
Wait. People are taking family sleep pictures? Sign me up for that.
It's a serious issue when you steal from an organization like Billy has confessed to doing. The Quad Cities Times story said that he'll be sentenced in May. It's reported that he'll have to pay restitution for the purchases he made.
