How Patriotic Is Illinois, Missouri, and Iowa?
In then a week we will be celebrating the 4th of July, the birth of our country. And while just about every state is going to be setting off fireworks (some illegally, mind you), have you ever wondered how truly patriotic your state is?
WalletHub.com put together a list of all 50 states and you might be surprised at which state is considered the most patriotic. The website use 13 factors in determining the state who loves the red, white and blue more. Some of these factors include military population, adults who voted in the 2016 election, even Americorps volunteers. By this reasoning, the top three most patriotic states are...
- 1) Virginia
- 2) Alaska
- 3) Wyoming
The bottom three states are:
- 48) Massachusetts
- 49) Illinois
- 50) New Jersey
I have a major problem with this data. Why is New York not number one? I mean it has the Statue of Liberty! Or how about Massachusetts? What about Pennsylvania where the Declaration of Independence was signed?
And Illinois at number 49? Has no one ever heard of Abraham Lincoln? He seemed like a pretty patriotic guy, right?
Missouri is number 24 and Iowa lands at number 29. I realize they have their reasoning for judging a state's patriotism, but maybe they need to rethink their reasoning a little. View the list for yourself and let us know what you think. Did they get it right?
