I've lived in Missouri that majority of my life and thought I had either known about or been to every spring in the state by now. I was wrong. There is one that is apparently a top secret destination that many don't know about because you must either hike or float to it.

I'll give credit to Only In Your State for discovering this Missouri spring that I had no idea about. It's Cave Spring in Shannon County, Missouri and it's appropriately named because it's a spring hidden in a cave opening.

You won't find many videos or photos of Cave Spring because not many people have taken the time to discover it. Plus, there's a bit of confusion in Missouri as there's another "cave spring" near Van Buren, Missouri.

The National Park Service has details on the 4.6 mile hike loop that you need to take if you want to hike to see Cave Spring. The NPS warns "Rugged trail, steep inclines, uneven surfaces make this trail inaccessible to wheelchairs." You can either access it by foot that way or float down the Current River and then try to not blink as you pass by or you'll miss it.

This is another of the many out-of-the-way scenic places in Missouri that most of the world doesn't know about and hopefully it stays that way.
