In what seems like an endless number of bulletins, now dozens in Missouri have just learned that their jobs are going away in a notice to the state jobs site.

I saw this WARN Notice posted on the Missouri Jobs site just today. That's the official notification to the state of Missouri when a company is about to lay off workers. It says that Silgan Plastics which has a manufacturing plant in the Hazelwood, Missouri area is closing down which means that 33 workers will lose their jobs.

According to the alert to the state of Missouri, these layoffs will be effective as of February 7, 2025. The Silgan Plastics website says the company makes "Custom, stock and mold-available bottles, jars and closures."

There's no word on what is causing the plant to close or if only the Hazelwood, Missouri plant is closing. According to the Silgan Plastics corporate site, they have locations around the world.

As of the date of this writing, there are no press releases from Silgan Plastics as to the nature of these layoffs and the closure of the Hazelwood, Missouri facility. I will update this article if an official statement is shared. Let's hope the affected Missouri workers land on their feet with better positions elsewhere.
