Hannibal's Bicentennial celebration is underway, and all summer long there will be some fantastic events. One of those events is family friendly and everyone is invited.

Hannibal Parks & Recreation will host a special Movie in the Park June 14 at Huckleberry Park showing the movie “Pinocchio.” The movie is sponsored by Hannibal’s Beta Sigma Phi sorority.

Some fun Hannibal trivia that I just learned, Cliff Edwards, who was born in Hannibal in 1895, voiced one of Disney's most iconic characters, Jimmy Cricket. How cool is that? Edwards, was a musician, singer, actor and voice actor, and became well known in the acting community in the 1920s and early 1930s. You might know one of his songs, "Singin' in the Rain" in 1929. Which became a number one hit.

"Pinocchio" will start at 8:30 pm in Huckleberry Park, behind the tennis courts. Hannibal’s very own Tom and Becky will introduce the movie. The concession stand at the Ramp Park will be open before the movie, bring plenty of lawn chairs and blankets.
