Hannibal Parks & Recreation Department wants people who decorate their homes for Halloween to be able to show off their handiwork as the Freaky Friday decorating contest starts today in Hannibal.

Families and individuals decorate their house or business for Halloween and take a photo or video of it for judging.   Prizes will be awarded for Most Creative, Scariest and Overall Display.  “This is a fun way to encourage people to decorate their homes or businesses” said Jenna McDonald, recreation supervisor for the Hannibal Parks & Recreation Department. “We want people to get creative and celebrate Halloween or harvest or the change of seasons.”

Entries will be judged by the Hannibal mayor and city officials. Winners receive a prize donated by FACT, Families and Communities Together.  Entries must be submitted by 5 p.m. on October 26, with judging taking place on Friday, October 27. The contest is open to all Hannibal residents.

Photos will be shown on the Hannibal Parks & Recreation website, www.hannibalparks.org; and the Hannibal Parks Facebook page, along with the address, so people can see the entries.  Winning entries will be published in the Saturday, October 28 edition of the Hannibal Courier-Post.

You can e-mail submissions to jmcdonald@hannibal-mo.gov.
