Missouri’s Hole-in-the-Wall Burger Guy Fieri Made Famous
How could Guy Fieri make a tiny off-the-beaten-path Missouri burger famous if he's never been there? It's a long story, but it is true that the best hole-in-the-wall burger in Missouri owes its fame to the most famous food celebrity in the world.
Cheapism just dropped their new best hole-in-the-wall burger joints that are worth the detour and their choice for Missouri is a good one. It's the Squeeze Inn in Stockton, Missouri. This cozy burger place is located next to Stockton Lake to the northwest of Springfield, Missouri.
The reason for the Squeeze Inn's inclusion on the best hole-in-the-wall burger joint worth the detour list is their famous Squeeze Burger. This is a burger that began in Sacramento, California and was discovered by Guy Fieri on his Food Network show Diners, Drive-ins and Dives. He was enamored with the fact that the cheese is placed on the burger patty as it's being cooked which means there's a fried cheese skirt that surrounds the burger on the bun.
That is the concept from Sacramento, California that inspired the Squeeze Inn to open up their place in Missouri and it has now grown into one of those bucket list places you really need to try once. I found this foodie channel on YouTube that shared their experience at the Squeeze Inn a few years ago.
I love it when small town Missouri places get recognition. I've said for the longest time that Guy Fieri needs to stop in Missouri restaurants and diners that aren't in St. Louis or Kansas City to discover the really unique food the small town places create. In this case, he kind of did in a Kevin Bacon six degrees of separation way.
