Google Trends Names Most Popular Costume of 2021

Google Trends names the most popular Halloween costume (so far this year), and to be honest. I don't get it.

There is a massive new thriller show on Netflix called Squid Game, and according to Google Trends that show is now the most researched show for costumes right now. Over 22 billion, yes billion, views have been recorded for this show, which I have been told is the adult version of The Hunger Games.

I have no desire to watch this show, but for some reason, people are watching it and wanting to dress like the characters in the show. In 2020 Among Us costume was the most popular custom people were searching for.

You can see from the Google Trends graph that back in September the top 5 costume searches were about dead even. Now in October Squid Game has taken a jumping leap into the lead. So I tried to search for what the costume would look like and it looks like a hazmat suit with a black mask, gloves, and belt.

So, if you're still looking for a costume for that Halloween Party you've been invited to, you might want to get this one. Although, as popular as this costume is now, you might want to think about just going as a clown or something.
