Question everything you see on the internet and this is a great example. There are many recent reports that have dropped over the past few days saying Gamestop is planning widespread store closings in Missouri, but those reports lack one thing.

You may have noticed that I added a question mark to the reports saying Gamestop is planning to close hundreds more stores including many in Missouri. There's a reason for that. First, here are the reports I'm referencing. I saw it for on The Daily Mail which I always question because they seem to be a bit sensationalistic sometimes. But, I also saw Retail Dive back up the report.

What is being reported about Gamestop is concerning including "GameStop eyes more store closures amid 20% sales drop". Plus, there is a very legitimate filing by Gamestop with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. In it, the company does say "the review may result in the closure of a larger number of stores than in previous years".

So there are very real and substantiated reports that Gamestop will be closing a large number of stores. The only problem is they have not announced what locations will be affected. It is safe to assume that many in Missouri will be closed IF the company moves forward after their review and decides to reduce locations. But, until we have exact locations, we don't know if Gamestop will close 5 or 50 in Missouri.

When/If Gamestop announces real Missouri location closures, I will update this article at that point. Until then, we wait.
