FBI: Missouri Residents Targeted by Fake Gold Offer
If something sounds too good to be true, it is. The FBI is warning Missouri residents of a gold bar offer that appears to come from the government. Surprise, surprise, it's not.
The FBI in St. Louis, Missouri just shared this warning earlier today on their Facebook page. The federal law enforcement officers warn that there is another gold scam making the rounds in Missouri where individuals are claiming that the government are asking you to buy and in some cases deliver gold bars. It's a complete fraud.
The FBI in St. Louis said that five were arrested in Missouri last October who were specifically targeting elderly residents. The villains allegedly told the residents that their bank accounts had been compromised and they needed to transfer their money to the conspirators for protection. In some cases, they allegedly had victims open up new bank accounts and even transfer money to overseas accounts. A quarter million dollars worth of gold bars were involved in the scam. That's why the FBI is emphasizing that the government will never advise you to purchase or transfer money into gold bars. If someone claiming to be an official representative of a bank or the government contacts you making requests like this, you need to contact local law enforcement and/or the FBI in St. Louis yourself directly through known reputable contact phone numbers. Your life savings may depend on it.
