It was one of the deadliest night of tornadoes in Missouri history as authorities have confirmed 24 tornado reports which tragically included 10 deaths after Friday twisters devastated the region.

NOAA's Storm Prediction Center has the unbelievable numbers from Friday storms and data is still being collected. Here are the raw numbers which may change later as survey teams have been dispatched to many parts of Missouri to assess damage:

  • 9 tornadoes in Missouri
  • 6 tornadoes in Arkansas
  • 5 tornadoes in Missisippi
  • 3 tornadoes in Illinois
  • 10 fatalities in Missouri
  • 100's of buildings in Missouri damaged
  • Thousands without power

At one time Friday night, the entire St. Louis, Missouri area was under a tornado warning which is nearly unprecedented. That included several PDS tornado warnings which is the highest warning level possible.

The deaths in Missouri were in the Ozark area according to the Missouri Highway Patrol.

The National Weather Service in St. Louis has sent out multiple teams to survey tornado damage on Saturday. That will help them gauge the strength of the twisters that left so much devastation.
