You're sick of covid. I get it. It's all people talk about. However, in sharing my family's story of covid contamination, I've learned that many of our listeners and readers don't really know anyone who has been sick with covid. Actually, I haven't had it either--but the rest of my family has. You can check out the full story here, but in a nutshell, my husband and our four daughters all got covid, with varying degrees of symptoms ranging to mild allergy-like for one and a trip to the emergency room for another.

In any case, I've learned a lot about Covid-19 in the last few weeks. I call this list:

The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly

*THE GOOD:  Yes there is "good" in covid. People are just so dang nice. When our family and close friends found out, our porch was as busy as it has ever been. We had multiple care baskets stocked with medicine, candy, movies, and games. We had so many meals delivered I didn't have to cook for two weeks--and I wasn't even sick! The acts of kindness were truly touching.

*THE BAD:  Well, this is a pretty big category. Getting sick isn't fun. Quarantine gets pretty old pretty quickly. The unknown is bothersome. How sick are you going to get? Is your life in actual danger? You also worry about who you could have exposed. Audrey's entire class had to stay home a day. The classmates she sits near had to stay home a week. There's also the financial strain. To be honest, it wasn't bad for our family, but it could be devastating for some. If  you're living paycheck-to-paycheck, and there is no paycheck coming in for a few weeks, that's a huge problem. This isn't an exhaustive list, but the bad definitely outweighs the good.

*THE UGLY:  Hygiene. It's the first to fall when you can't leave the house. If someone didn't pass the sniff test I would ask, "When is the last time you took a shower?" Every single time, without fail, the answer would be, "I don't know, what day is it?"
