I love Chinese food and consider myself a loving person, but even I have been suspicious of why China wants to own so much Missouri farm land. The state apparently feels the same as it just dropped the hammer on how much land China can own in Missouri and where they can own it.

Missouri Governor Mike Parson shared a press release a few days ago explaining what executive order 24-01 is and what he hopes to accomplish with it. He said (and I quote) that this new executive order "bans individuals and businesses from nations designated as foreign adversaries from purchasing agricultural land within a 10-mile radius of critical military facilities in the State of Missouri".

What a fun 2023 moment it was last year when a certain Chinese balloon was spotted over military bases in Missouri. Good times, good times.

It was even better when one of our fighters blew it up with a missile. Before I go all Rambo, let's get back to the subject of farm land in Missouri.

It appears the Missouri governor is serious about keeping an eye and limiting what China does in the state as the press release said he's requesting additional funding for staff to oversee this endeavor.

Here are a couple of other important facts shared by the governor:

For the purposes of this order, "critical military facilities" refers to all staffed military facilities in Missouri. The order does not affect existing landowners.

As for me, I think I'll go watch Rambo II. It fits the mood.
