The Hannibal Area Chamber of Commerce announced on its Facebook page Tuesday that Burke's Outlet, part of a company that has been in business for over a hundred years, will be opening in October in the Huck Finn Shopping Center.

The business will occupy the space formerly occupied by Gordman's, a store that opened with much fanfare, only to close when its parent company filed for bankruptcy.

Burke's Outlet's parent company, Beall's Inc., first opened in 1915, and got into the outlet store business in 1987. Under the Beall's and Burke's names are over 450 outlet stores and 70 department stores in 13 states.

A check of Burke's Outlet's website shows men's, women's and kids clothing, along with a variety of items for the bed, kitchen and bath.

In their mission statement, Beall's describes itself as, "a customer-centric, family focused organization with a relentless desire to deliver exceptional value."

The company is looking for sales associate to man the new Hannibal store. You can find a job description and application here.

But you'd best do it soon. The Hannibal Chamber has announced a ribbon cutting for the new Burke's Outlet in the Huck Finn Shopping Center for Thursday, October 28 at 8:45 a.m.
