Surprise Layoff Impacts 180 Workers at Illinois Company

If you have a stable job, be thankful. There are 180 workers at a company in Illinois that thought they were in good shape until today as they've now learned they will be jobless in weeks.

There's a brand new WARN notice that has just been posted to the Illinois Work Net Center site. A WARN notice is a document that must be submitted to the state whenever workers are about to be let go. In this case, it's a mass layoff of 180 just announced today by LSC Communications Transport LLC located at 1000 Windham Parkway in Bolingbrook, Illinois. This layoff will be effective on September 5, 2025 according to the Illinois Work Net site.

The company's website says LSC Communications Transport LLC is "a large commercial printing company and the largest producer of books in the United States". 5 years ago, the company was acquired by Atlas Holdings. There is no confirmation at this time if the layoffs will be temporary or permanent. Until there is a statement by the company, there's also the possibility this is some type of reorganization which might allow laid off workers opportunities in other parts of the company. As it stands right now, this is another mass layoff in Illinois that now totals more than 1,800 workers who have lost their jobs in just the past 30 days.
