$11.6M Illinois Lottery Jackpot Still Unclaimed After 2 Months
Someone in Illinois is richer beyond their wildest dreams, but they seem to be unaware of their good fortune - literally - as their $11.6 million dollar prize remains unclaimed after 2 months.
Does this Illinois gas station/convenience store look familiar to you?
This is the True North store located at 2345 W Bartlett Rd in Bartlett, Illinois. The Illinois Lottery says that someone stopped in this place on January 24, 2026 and picked up a Lotto ticket that is now worth a staggering $11,600,000. The problem is that no one has come forward yet to claim these millions that are waiting for them as it remains on the Illinois Lottery Unclaimed Prizes site. You could understand if someone waited a week or so to get lawyers and accountants lined up to help them deal with their new wealth, but after nearly 2 months there's a chance that the winner doesn't realize they have a major winning lottery ticket.
How long do Illinoisans have to claim lottery prizes?
The Illinois Lottery's website says that winners have a full calendar year to claim a prize before it's assigned to the educational fund so there's still plenty of time left for this lucky winner to raise their hand and claim an $11+ million dollar fortune. Yes, there would be a ton of taxes taken out of this stack of cash. An online lottery tax calculator estimates the take home after taxes would be around $6.7 million dollars. Although that's a huge chunk, I don't know anyone who would refuse over $6 million dollars right now. Maybe it's you?
