Quincy Community Theatre is looking for students to let their freak flag fly! Audition appointments are now open for SHREK THE MUSICAL (TYA), December 5 and 6 for any Tri-State student in grades 3-12.

“Once upon a time, there was a little ogre named Shrek…” And thus begins the tale of an unlikely hero who finds himself on a life-changing journey alongside a wisecracking Donkey and a feisty princess who resists her rescue. Throw in a short tempered bad guy, a cookie with an attitude, and over a dozen other fairy tale misfits, and you’ve got the kind of mess that calls for a real hero. Luckily, there’s one on hand…and his name is Shrek. Performances are February 5-7.

Students should prepare one minute of a song from any contemporary musical and are welcome to sing from the show. An accompanist will be provided, so auditionees are asked to provide sheet music if not singing from SHREK THE MUSICAL (TYA).
Auditionees should also familiarize themselves with the script, available online. A password is required for access. Detailed audition requirements and character descriptions are available at www.1qct.org/on-stage/auditions.

SHREK THE MUSICAL (TYA) is directed by Director of Student Theatre Kelsey Celek, with vocal direction by Jillian Wagner Miller, choreography by Drew Quintero, and scenic design by Technical Director Paul Denckla.

All roles are available and all auditionees are welcome, regardless of prior experience. Auditionees are encouraged to develop their own interpretation of these famous characters. Accents are not required. To schedule an audition or for password information, contact the QCT Box Office at (217) 222-3209.
