An Open Letter To Our Loyal Listeners
Yesterday, as I was out grabbing a bite to eat, I was reminded how much I truly love our loyal listeners.
When I first started in this wild and crazy career as a radio broadcaster, I didn't want people to know who I was. That was the magic of radio, the mystery of "what does Sam really look like?" Well, in today's world and social media that has quickly went out the window.
Sometimes I forget that what I do is not only important, but it makes a difference in your (our listeners) lives. I was grabbing a bite to eat last night with the hubby, and a listener, who had won tickets to a concert, came up to me with her very adorable daughter. She was so excited that she got to take her family to the concert, when the arrived they got upgraded, got better seats, and the pictures and videos they showed me of the family having a good time hit me hard. I did that, I was able to send that family to the concert, I was able to make those memories for them.
Maybe that's a little selfish of me for thinking that way, but I am so happy that the family got to have those memories. I love to see the faces of all of our listeners when they pick up their prizes. The husband that received Brad Paisely tickets, the family who got to see Train and Goo Goo Dolls, the winners of Win Cash, and the kids that get a certificate to Scotties Fun Spot for being the Birthday Person of the Week, you are the reason I love my job so much.
So thank you, loyal listeners for being with me everyday and listening to me, and having all of us being apart of your day. And if you see me out and about, whether it be grabbing a bite to eat, out doing a live broadcast, or just at one of the many festivals in the area, I would love to meet you.
