Call Center in Illinois Notifies State of Mass Layoffs Soon

At least the workers were given a little bit of a warning about a mass layoff that will soon impact a call center in Illinois based on a notice submitted to the state.

This new alert was just posted on the Illinois Work Net Center site today. It's a WARN notice that alerted the state of Illinois that a mass layoff of employees was imminent at a call center. It says that American Water Resources, LLC located at 111 East 4th Street in Alton, Illinois will begin layoffs of 37 workers effective July 28, 2025.

Why are these layoffs necessary at this Illinois call center?

The Layoff is reporting that American Water Resources is a subsidiary of American Water Works which also recently eliminated jobs at a New Jersey location due to outsourcing of resources. Wikipedia also says that there is much restructuring happening in the company. If this new layoff is a part of that restructuring, it's possible that some or many workers will have the opportunity to work in a different part of the company or location.

Let's hope these Illinois workers who are about to be displaced land on their feet in a better situation. The Illinois Work Net Center site says that there have now been 753 workers laid off in Illinois in just the past 30 days.
