A Reminder To Drivers As Students Head Back To School
Most area schools will start this week, and drivers need to be aware of more children walking, riding bikes, and getting on school buses.
This week school speed zones will be back, and drivers needs to be aware of the laws while in schools zones. The speed for Illinois and Missouri school zones is 20 miles per hour, put your phone down an pay attention. Some kids will be excited for the first day and not pay attention to their surroundings and may walk into the street without looking, just be cautious the first few days of the school year.
The Illinois State Police posted a video reminding drivers on how important it is also to STOP when school buses are picking up and dropping of children. With kids that will be on the bus this year, I ask drivers to please respect all school traffic laws so that everyone makes it to school and home safe everyday.
