Do you have an interest in playing pickleball but aren’t sure how to play the game? Well. the Hannibal area pickleball enthusiasts are offering a class to teach people how to play pickleball. Pickleball is a racquet sport that combines elements of badminton, tennis, and table tennis. Two, three, or four players use solid paddles made of wood or composite materials to hit a perforated polymer ball, similar to a wiffle ball, over a net.

Pickleball 101 will be taught from 6 to 9 p.m. on Friday, February 9, at the Admiral Coontz Recreation Center. All equipment will be provided. Bill Baker, who plays pickleball nearly every weekend in tournaments around the State of Missouri, will lead the class with the help of other advanced pickleball players.

The class is free, but reservations are requested by emailing mlrichards@hannibal-mo.gov or calling 573-221-0154.

Registration is open for leisure, intermediate and competitive pickleball leagues on Thursday nights beginning March 1 at the Admiral Coontz Recreation Center. Registration will end February 19 and will close when all 32 spots are filled. Registration is available at the Hannibal Parks & Recreation office at City Hall, 320 Broadway.
