73 Suddenly Jobless after Illinois Restaurant Closes its Doors
This is one of the largest restaurant layoffs we've seen this year in Illinois as 73 are suddenly jobless as their food place closed its doors permanently.
This new WARN notice just posted on the Illinois Work Net Center site shows a closure in Schaumburg, Illinois for a chain restaurant. The address the notice gives is 406 E Golf Road in Schaumburg, Illinois which is this restaurant according to Google Street View.
The notice says that GMRI, Inc. doing business as Bahama Breeze has closed this location and the Google listing shows they are already permanently closed.
This is one of the closures we learned about a few days ago from Nation's Restaurant News that said a total of 15 restaurants were being closed by Darden's Restaurants which is the parent company of Longhorn Steakhouse and Olive Garden. This Schaumburg, Illinois Bahama Breeze location was sadly one of them.
I didn't realize that this closure would affect so many workers that a mass layoff notice would be necessary, but it was a rather large location so it makes sense that so many would be impacted. Let's hope those affected get back on their feet soon and let's also hope the recent trend of restaurants closing their doors is done.
