49 in Illinois to Lose Jobs May 1 Due to Sudden Plant Closure

The list of those who have lost jobs in Illinois in 2025 continues to grow as a sudden plant closure will mean 49 are now jobless as of May 1, 2025.

According to the Illinois Work Net site, a plant not far from the Mississippi River has notified the state of a layoff of 49 due to a plant closure.

International Flavors & Fragrances Inc. is located at 10994 Three Mile Road near Thomson, Illinois which is this close to the Mississippi River and Iowa border.

I've not seen an official press release from the company at this time, but I did see a confirmation of this layoff on X/Twitter. The official International Flavors & Fragrances website indicates most of their manufacturing locations are in Asia. There's no word if those laid off due to this plant closure will be offered opportunities elsewhere.
