
$10K Reward: FBI Hunts Most Wanted Fugitive in Illinois
The FBI has issued an alert about a fugitive that is among the most wanted in America and it's believed that he may be in Illinois as he has ties to the state. They are now offering a $10,000 reward for information that leads to his arrest and conviction.
The FBI in Chicago shared a status update to their Facebook page on Friday, August 29, 2025 alerting the public that a fugitive is on the run and may be in Illinois. Here's what they said:
"During Operation Summer Heat, the FBI and our law enforcement partners are executing federal warrants on violent criminals and fugitives and dismantling violent gangs nationwide. We need your help - have you seen this fugitive? FBI - Denver announced a $10,000 reward leading to the arrest and conviction of Matthew LaDaniel Johnson, who is wanted in a double homicide from 2023"
Matthew LaDaniel Johnson has been accused of the following:
- Murder in the First Degree - Extreme Indifference (2 Counts) and Criminal Attempt
- Murder in the First Degree - Extreme Indifference (2 Counts)
While Johnson was born in Denver, Colorado, it is known that he has direct ties to Chicago, Illinois. If you have any information about the whereabouts of Matthew LaDaniel Johnson, you can call 1-800-225-5324 or contact your local FBI office. If you believe the situation is an emergency, you should dial 911. Johnson should be considered armed and dangerous and not approached if identified.
