$10K Reward: FBI Hunts Most Wanted Fugitive in Illinois

The FBI has issued an alert about a fugitive that is among the most wanted in America and it's believed that he may be in Illinois as he has ties to the state. They are now offering a $10,000 reward for information that leads to his arrest and conviction.

The FBI in Chicago shared a status update to their Facebook page on Friday, August 29, 2025 alerting the public that a fugitive is on the run and may be in Illinois. Here's what they said:

"During Operation Summer Heat, the FBI and our law enforcement partners are executing federal warrants on violent criminals and fugitives and dismantling violent gangs nationwide. We need your help - have you seen this fugitive? FBI - Denver announced a $10,000 reward leading to the arrest and conviction of Matthew LaDaniel Johnson, who is wanted in a double homicide from 2023"

Matthew LaDaniel Johnson has been accused of the following:

• Murder in the First Degree - Extreme Indifference (2 Counts) and Criminal Attempt
• Murder in the First Degree - Extreme Indifference (2 Counts)

While Johnson was born in Denver, Colorado, it is known that he has direct ties to Chicago, Illinois.
