Video Shows Hero Illinois Deputy Save Woman Whose Brakes Failed

How would you like to be driving down the highway and suddenly realize that your brakes don't work on your vehicle? This just happened to a woman in Illinois as a dashcam video shows how he put himself in harm's way to save her. Oh, and the Illinois woman is pregnant, too.

ABC News shared this video from the Williamson County Sheriff's Office in Illinois. It begins with a 911 call from the woman to dispatchers who said "I need help! My brakes won't stop! My car won't stop!" The video shows the Illinois deputy putting his car in front of hers to bring them both to a stop.

Good morning America also shared how this crisis adverted a tragedy and their video was shared by the Williamson County Sheriff's Department on their Facebook page today.

The great news is that neither the mother or unborn child were harmed. This is a credit to the dispatcher and the fast-responding deputies to reach her destination before she ended up in a crash that could have ended her life and that of her unborn child. Quick action on the part of all involved shows how not all heroes wear capes.
