Who Would Your Super-Bowl Halftime Performer Be?
One year ago, after watching Jennifer Lopez and Shakira perform at the Super Bowl LV halftime show, I asked the question who do you think will be next year’s entertainer at halftime? Well the answer turned out to be the Grammy award winning The Weeknd.
That’s right, The Weeknd will be the featured artist at the Pepsi Super Bowl Halftime Show on CBS this Sunday at Raymond James Stadium. The Weeknd is quoted as saying "I'm humbled, honored and ecstatic to be the center of that infamous stage this year." So good for him and I am sure he will do well on Sunday.

He will join the ranks of other pop superstars to perform at the event over the years, including Justin Timberlake, Lady Gaga, Madonna, Prince and Katy Perry. In case you were wondering who makes the choice of the halftime performer, this is the second year of collaboration between the event’s sponsor Pepsi, the NFL and Jay-Z’s Roc Nation on the selection of artists for the halftime show.
Are you happy with their choice? I bet Country music fans aren’t. There hasn’t been a country music star perform at halftime of the Super Bowl in 18 years when Shania Twain performed in 2003. What’s up with that? Now, I am not the biggest Country music fan in America (although I enjoy some country songs), but I do recognize it to be a music format loved by millions in this country. So to go 18 years without a country artist performing at halftime is mind-boggling to me.
Listed below are the halftime performers for the past 21 years.
