A Missouri auto hauling company that has been around for nearly a century is calling it quits after deals with major automakers broke down which will result in 239 losing their jobs.

I saw Freight Waves share the sad news that Jack Cooper in Wentzville, Missouri will be closing down as the result of deals falling through with Ford and General Motors. I was able to confirm this closure through the company's Google listing and also through the Missouri Jobs website which lists the layoffs. It states that the Jack Cooper employees in Wentzville were let go on February 8, 2025. 239 workers were sadly affected.

The Freight Waves report says the company's CEO notified workers saying the decision was made with "extraordinary sadness".

The Missouri Jobs website reveals that this latest layoff of drivers for Jack Cooper in Wentzville means the total number of layoffs in Missouri so far in 2025 are 1,235 which is staggering considering we're barely a month and a half into the new year.

There's no word if the laid off workers were provided severance or job finding assistance.
