Weird Missouri Earthquake Detected Just West of Mark Twain Lake
It's common to have earthquakes in Missouri near the New Madrid Fault. But, one happened early Saturday that wasn't anywhere close to that. It was detected between Moberly, Missouri and Mark Twain Lake.
A 2.4 is nothing even close to serious and wasn't reported felt by anyone likely since it happened in the middle of the night, but I can't recall ever seeing an earthquake in this part of Missouri before.
It's certainly not something to lose any sleep over. Like I said, earthquakes are common in Missouri. It's just not typical to see anything in the northeastern part of the state. We'll see if this is just a strange anomaly or an indication of new activity to the south where quakes happen all the time.
