Because of the early morning hours, very few in Missouri saw it, but a backyard video captured the moment a huge meteor burnt up over the state early Saturday morning.

According to the Missouri Skies YouTube channel, this meteor was captured on their skyward-pointing camera at 3:40am Saturday morning, March 29, 2025. Dan Bush of Missouri Skies is the videographer that captures these amazing videos.

I checked the American Meteor Society website and now Dan's meteor report is officially listed there.

Is this meteor over Missouri part of a meteor shower?

According to Space.com, the answer is no. There are no major meteor showers going on at this time. The next known meteor shower will be the Lyrids which will begin on April 14 and continue through April 30, 2025. The peak for that meteor shower will be April 21 and April 22.

If you enjoy rare sky sights over Missouri, you really should consider following the Missouri Skies YouTube channel. Dan frequently shares unique videos like the one captured early Saturday morning.
