Missouri Study Warns of 3 Engagement Red Flags for Breaking Up
I've heard it said that the easiest person to fool is yourself. That's one reason you should pay attention to advice from a Missouri study that gives 3 important warning signs that you should break off an engagement before it's too late.
Study Finds just shared an interesting study that was conducted in Missouri. The University of Missouri published a study entitled "Lifting the Veil: Exploring Premarital Hesitation and Engagement Dissolution Consideration" that was posted by the Journal of Marriage and Family. The research they did was extensive as they examined "36 Reddit posts about premarital hesitation, alongside 2213 associated comments, from 1535 unique individuals".
What warning signs did they discover that were red flags of a relationship that should not proceed?
Here are the 3 issues that should signal a pause or probably disconnection from the engaged partner:
- Financial Deception
- Substance Abuse
- Partner Violence
This study done in Columbia, Missouri learned that many were sharing positive qualities to argue that they should give the relationship more chances to work out. The fact is that the core problems were almost a guarantee that the marriage would never last and could end in tragic abuse.
The song "Breaking Up is Hard to Do" is true, but it's oftentimes necessary when the person you've convinced yourself is the love of your life really isn't.
