There's a new king of the mountain - for groceries anyway. The new number one chain for groceries currently have 5 Missouri locations and reports say a sixth might be coming soon.

I saw this quiet update to the American Customer Satisfaction Index website which shows the new 2025 grocery store rankings. This year, there's a new number one. It says there are two grocery store chains that were given the highest rating this year of 84 and one of them is Trader Joe's. Their official website says they currently have 5 Missouri stores including Brentwood, Chesterfield, Creve Coeur, Des Peres and Kansas City and there's one more still to come relatively soon.

Late in 2024, the Columbia Missourian reported that there is a new Trader Joe's expected to open in Columbia, but the timeline then was unclear.

What makes Trader Joe's the #1 grocery brand for 2025?

That answer is probably different depending on who you ask, but the website Real Simple says the chain's success is due to a reputation for friendly staffs and reasonable prices.

It appears that Trader Joe's is content right now to only have locations in Missouri's bigger cities. It will be interesting if they ever begin to develop a presence in smaller areas. I would not be surprised if you don't see a southwestern Missouri location like Branson or Springfield at some point in the future.
